Who are we?
The Orpheus Choir of North Herts has been performing in and around Hitchin, Hertfordshire, for more than 50 years and looks set to keep going for a while yet! We perform music to a high standard, but try not to be intimidating - which is why there is no formal audition process (see under General Membership Details).
We sing all kinds of music from unaccompanied Bach motets to fully accompanied oratorio, with lots of variety in between (see under Previous Concerts). Often the choir splits into eight parts, which in a small group like ours means that each section will consist of five voices or fewer - therefore we do look for confident singers.
However, new members find Orpheus a friendly and supportive group; we do all we can to make everyone feel welcome and included. Rehearsals are stimulating, rewarding and a lot of fun.
